The year of Mister Manager

I can't possibly express how excited I am to see Juno on Friday. Damn all you L.A. and NYC-ians and your early release dates.

Michael Cera + Ellen Page + Moldy Peaches songs = At least 18 kinds of awesome.

UPDATE: I'm an idiot. Juno doesn't open nationwide until Christmas Day. But my emotional rollercoaster crept back up again when I found an advance screening in Sacramento on Tuesday.

UPDATE II: OK, turns out the release schedule is a bit more complicated than all that. San Francisco this week, Sacramento next week, etc., etc.

Wait, how's that different?

Jay Leno's declaration while handing out donuts to writers on Day One of the strike:

"I've been working with these people for 20 years. Without them I'm not funny."

Um. We'll just let you fill in your own punch line there.

Outstanding

Arguably the funniest show-biz couple out there, Amy Poehler and Will Arnett, lend their visages to Gap ads, which have apparently already started running back in the States.

Love the portrait... wish I could figure out who shot it.

The item in OK Magazine included this bit of hilarity from Poehler, discussing their holiday plans:

"We do what we always do — we rent a private jet and go up and then we call all our single friends and we say 'ha ha, how does it feel to be alone at Christmas?' and then we dump jet fuel into the ocean — but only where there are endangered species."

That's my kind of party. Ahem. Now I'll return to watching YouTube videos of Arnett on 30 Rock and the late, great Debbie Downer. Carry on.

Most of the time, it's the items (or, at least, every third or fourth item) that are what makes Gawker such an entertaining read.

And while this take, on Prince Harry snorting vodka shots and, apparently, licking a male friend's nipple during some sort of hot British shirts-off party, is certainly that, it's the carefully-chosen tags applied by the Gawker crew that really made me guffaw. Observe the subtle brilliance:

'Architecturously gorgeous'

Only four episodes left! What a shame... but I guess there's something to be said for ending something in its prime.

In this week's fresh Clark and Michael, the boys get an office. Mikey gets creative with a Sharpie (below) and then gets a treat!

If you haven't been watching, now's the time to catch up. Michael Cera and Clark Duke are back in fine form with the fourth installment of their show, and it's a laugh-riot.

If there's someone out there who plays adorably awkward better than one Michael Cera, I've yet to see him.

Kathy Griffin: You either love her or hate her.

Much to a certain friend's chagrin, I must admit that I love her. L-O-V-E, love.

But, as A Gay, I suppose I fit Kathy's demographic a little more than, well, not. Anyway, there's been a marathon on the Bravo the last two days, in advance of the new season of My Life on the D-List. While I've been laughing way too hard at Kathy herself (for instance, dressed up in a full-on rat costume, shooting toy guns at her dogs), some of the best lines have come from guest stars.

The quote in the headline is from Olympic darling Johnny Weir (aka TBall's Favorite Queen Olympian), during a lesson in Vegas; and the line below is from Queer Eye's Ted Allen (aka TBall's Favorite Queer-Eye Queer).

"We don't like the gays. They're too unreliable and emotional."

Bringing the funny

As we get things rolling here at dudernet.com, we can't help but pass along the funniest thing we've seen in ages: Clark and Michael. It stars Michael Cera, of Arrested Development fame, and his buddy Clark Duke.

It's a mockumentary of sorts (the funny sort), where Clark and Michael try to get a show on the air. See, it's a mockumentary, because this is the show. Get it? So clever, these two.

The first episode guest stars Tony Hale; later episodes, if the previews are to be believed, feature none other than Andy Richter (!) and David Cross. 

Anyway, it's well worth watching (several times over), and a new episode shall appear online every Wednesday. At last, a reason to watch TV on Wednesdays. Even if it's of the internet variety.
